Katie Kurtz Joins Quality Catering for Kids for its Wisconsin Market
Brookfield, Wis. -- Katie Kurtz has joined Quality Catering for Kids as a sales account executive for the company’s Wisconsin market.
Kurtz, of Brookfield, is a 2009 UW-Madison graduate with a degree in consumer science.
“Parents and educators increasingly are demanding nutritious meals in schools and child care centers, so it’s a great opportunity to work for a company that shares that focus and that offers a product I really believe in,” Kurtz said.
The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies recently called for more fruits and vegetables in school meals, along with other recommendations to make meals more nutritious and to counter the rising rate of obesity among children in the U.S.
“Meals from Quality Catering for Kids already provide vegetables and fresh fruits this report calls for, and meet government-recommended nutrition guidelines,” Kurtz said. “Our meals are not only nutritious, they are kid-tested for taste, so there is little food left on plates at the end of mealtime.”
Quality Catering for Kids each day prepares and delivers more than 15,000 ready-to-serve meals to child care centers and private grade schools in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Its menus are planned under the guidance of a Wisconsin-registered dietetic technician to ensure that government nutrition guidelines for children are met or exceeded. Child care center meals are accompanied by nutrition lesson plans revolving around a cast of Healthy Heros characters. Its commissary in Lake Villa, Ill., is the only one in the Midwest that is USDA-certified.
